UniLodz Scientists Awarded in the International Research Competition Next Level Europe

A team of sociologists from UniLodz – Dr Jakub Adamski and Dr Remigiusz Żulicki – has been awarded for the second time in an international research competition organised by Infra4NextGen. The competition entitled Next Level Europe is a “datathon”, i.e. a programming marathon focused on data analysis, bringing together researchers and enthusiasts from across Europe.

Opublikowano: 19 June 2026

During the three-day online event (20–23 April 2026), participants transformed complex datasets from the European Social Survey into concrete recommendations for public policies. The team from the University of Lodz was recognised for the best use of data in a cross-sectional analysis, appreciated by the jury for its innovative approach and the ability to synthesise multiple issues.

The award-winning project entitled “Critical thinking, media, and democracy in an age of unchecked technological development” focused on the role of civic education in the context of the dynamic development of digital technologies. The authors, using data from the international CRONOS study, demonstrated that the growing presence of technology in everyday life increases the need for education in critical thinking, media literacy and democracy.
