What Is the Legislative Council?
The Legislative Council to the Prime Minister is an advisory and consultative body to the Prime Minister and the Council of Ministers on issues pertaining to the legal system. It has operated since 1972 and brings together distinguished representatives of academia and legal practice. Its main task is to provide opinions on the most important draft legal acts and government documents, as well as to support the process of creating coherent, transparent and high-quality legislation. The Council’s term of office lasts four years and its members are appointed by the Prime Minister.
