Some of the hives that had remained empty after the winter season were populated with new bee colonies provided by the Lodz Apiarist Association. Students from the SPATIUM Student Science Club took part in the activities and, under the supervision of experts from the Association, were involved in transferring frames into the hives while learning about the principles of operating and managing an apiary. The meeting provided an opportunity to acquire valuable practical knowledge related to bee care and the organisation of work in an apiary.
On the occasion of World Bee Day, the Faculty’s apiary was also visited by a TVP3 Łódź crew. During the visit, the hives and the apitherapy hut, created as part of the UniLodz Faculty of Economics and Sociology initiative, were presented. Together with representatives of the Lodz Apiarist Association, the importance of bees for the ecosystem was highlighted, along with the values that can be drawn from observing the functioning of bee communities, such as cooperation, organisation and responsibility for the common good.
