The seminar will feature Prof. Marta Widz (Professor of Practice, SDA Bocconi School of Management in Milan), a researcher and an advisor specialising in wealth management, family offices and corporate and ownership governance in family businesses. In her work, she combines academic perspectives with consulting experience, collaborating with leading academic centres (INSEAD, University of Vermont) and private wealth market practitioners. Her research interests focus on corporate and family governance, responsible ownership, philanthropy, the professionalization of family office structures, the relationship between family and management, and the long-term sustainability of family businesses.
During the seminar, Prof. Widz will present the results of her multi-year research into family wealth management and the functioning of family office structures internationally. The findings are consistent with broader research on corporate governance, the professionalisation of wealth management and the challenges facing family office structures in the context of succession and sustainable development.
Edward Elgar Publishing House will publish a collective monograph entitled The Handbook of Family Office and Wealth Management, with Prof. Marta Widz as its lead editor in 2026. The publication provides an important reference point for current research on family office and wealth management and selected topics will be discussed during the seminar.
