During her speech, Prof. Beata Guziejewska highlighted the growing importance of fiscal decentralisation as a foundation for the efficient operation of local governments. She also underlined the crucial role of empirical research, which allows for accurate diagnosis of problems and the design of effective solutions for public finance management at the local and regional levels. The Oxford Debate, in which Prof. Beata Guziejewska acted as a judge, assessing the participants' arguments and the substantive level of the discussions was another important element of the event.
