Vivo Trio was founded in 1997 and has been performing in its current line-up for the past eight years, since pianist Hanna Holeksa joined the ensemble. The musicians are affiliated with the Grazyna and Kiejstut Bacewicz Academy of Music in Lodz. They perform as soloists and chamber musicians in Poland and abroad. Their artistic achievements also include CD, radio and television recordings. The ensemble’s repertoire encompasses the most significant works of chamber music, ranging from the Classical period to contemporary compositions.
The evening’s programme will bring together three distinct musical worlds. The audience will hear Maurice Ravel’s richly coloured, contrasting and rhythmically vibrant “Piano Trio”, as well as “Piano Trio No. 2” by Aleksander Tansman, a composer born in Lodz whose work combines Polish roots with influences from French musical culture.
The programme will be complemented by “Mity” [Myths] Op. 30 by Karol Szymanowski, arranged by Olga Hans. Inspired by stories from Greek mythology, this cycle is among the composer’s most original works. Its impressionistic palette of colours, vivid sonic imagery and extraordinary instrumental sound create a musical tale of the world of Arethusa, Narcissus, the dryads and Pan.
