The Council is an advisory body that may be appointed by the Presidium of the Polish Accreditation Committee. Its powers are defined in § 11a of the PKA Statute and include, in particular:
- overseeing the quality of assessment team reports, particularly in terms of compliance with legal provisions, internal consistency, precision and transparency of the formulated assessments and recommendations, as well as their significance in justifying the teams' opinions and the Committee's resolutions;
- assessing the quality of the work of the Committee members and experts;
- preparing draft recommendations;
- developing draft templates, guidelines, or amendments to templates and guidelines referred to in §9, paragraph 3, points 5–8 of the PKA Statute.
