Apply for International Trade Course and get a certificate

We invite students to join a six-week intensive course (24 hours) on Financial Markets, concluding with a certificate from the CERGE-EI Foundation.

Course Outline 

Students will study the key fundamentals of international trade in both theory and empirics. We will discuss important aspects of the roots of trade, trade patterns, and trade policy. 

Course Structure 

Each week will include lectures and an exercise session on the same topic. Lectures will introduce theoretical concepts, while exercise sessions will cover theoretical and empirical exercises. The course topics include the following. 

  1. Introduction: Current global trade.
  2. Ricardian model.
  3. Factor endowment model.
  4. New theory of international trade.
  5. Trade policy.
  6. Empirics of international trade.

Course Details 

  • ECTS points: 5 ECTS points (can be exchanged for crediting an elective lecture)
  • Classes: April 27 – June 5, 2026
  • Online lectures: Monday 9.45 -11.15 a.m. CEST and Wednesday 9.45 - 10.30 a.m. CEST
  • Workshops with the local instructor: Wednesday 10.30 - 11.15 a.m. CEST
  • Language of instruction: English
  • Grading: Activity 8 % (local lecturers will be recording your activity and participation during seminar sessions), Assignments 20 % (2*10%), Online quizzes 12% (4*3%), Final Exam 60 %
  • Final exam week: June 8 – 12, 2026
  • Make-up exam week: June 15 – 19, 2026
