The report has been developed based on the 12 principles of the University Social Responsibility Declaration, to which we have been a signatory since 2017. The indication of how the initiatives undertaken align with the UN Sustainable Development Goals, demonstrating that global goals can be effectively achieved through local action is also an important element of the publication.
The 2024 report includes:
- examples of initiatives supporting the well-being of students and employees, including the development of a psychological support system, interventions and initiatives fostering a safe and welcoming academic environment,
- descriptions of projects implemented to promote equality, counteract discrimination and strengthen diversity, consistent with the Diversity Charter we signed in 2018,
- specific pro-environmental activities – from educational initiatives to implementing solutions that reduce the university's impact on the climate and its immediate surroundings,
- examples of cooperation with the city, institutions, social organisations and businesses, demonstrating how academic knowledge translates into practical and useful solutions.
Social responsibility of the University of Lodz is not just a set of declarations, but above all, consistently implemented actions and conscious decisions made on a daily basis. We have been developing the university as an open, safe and inclusive space, where every member of the academic community has equal opportunities for scientific and professional development. At the same time, we see the university as an institution responsible for sharing knowledge, experience and best practices with its surroundings. Cooperation and joint actions are crucial to building a more responsible and sustainable future
– underlines Dr Katarzyna Liberska-Kinderman, Head of the Centre for External Relations and Social Responsibility of the University, University of Lodz.
The publication of the University Social Responsibility Report 2024 is not only a summary of past activities but also a commitment to the future. Responsibility, sustainable development and social responsibility remain key elements of the University of Lodz's strategy – both in research and teaching, as well as in the university's daily operations.
More information about our social responsibility initiatives can be found on the University of Lodz Social Responsibility website.
